- Learn About the Game: In 99 Nights in the Forest, you can play with friends. It's a little bit scary and you need to think smart to stay alive.
- Pick How Many Friends to Play With: First, start the game and pick how many players you want (1 to 5 players). Remember: more players makes the game harder!
- Do the Lesson: Do the practice lesson to learn how to play and move in the game.
- Explore Early: On Day 1, walk around and look at everything. Find things you need and remember where the big places are.

🎯 Days 1-3: Important Things to Do
- Save Dino Kid on Days 1-3 to get special prizes
- Make Old Bed and Regular Bed before Day 5
- The Deer won't hurt you on the first night - so you can collect things safely
- Get wood right away and make your campfire bigger to level 3 or 4
👥 Picking Your Team Size
- Playing Alone: Be quiet and move carefully. Build things to keep you safe first.
- You and a Friend: Split the work - one person collects things while the other builds walls and fences.
- With 3-5 Friends: Give everyone a different job (one builds, one hunts, one protects, one explores).
Using Your Stuff Wisely
🪵 Wood Collection
- Get wood right away - collect as much as you can!
- You start with one Coal - save it and use it smart
- Put little trees together to cut them faster
- Keep your wood safe from rain in a special box
- Break wooden chairs to get 5 pieces of wood from each one
- Make your campfire bigger to level 3 or 4 on Day 1
🦌 Pelts & Hunting
- Bunny Foot is very important - you need it to make good tools
- Get it on Night 1 or Day 2 when the bad guys are easier to beat
- The Deer is nice and calm at first - good time to hunt!
- Keep the animal fur to make better armor and tools later
🔩 Scrap & Metal
- Collect metal pieces to make your work table better
- Get a regular bed on Day 1 so you can come back if you get hurt
- Save metal pieces to build your base
- Best place to find metal is in Campfire level 6 area
- Break metal chairs to get 5 metal pieces from each one
- There's not a lot of metal on the map - don't waste it!

Your base is super important in this game! A good base keeps you safe from bad guys and gives you things you need to stay alive.
Different Ways to Build Your Base
1. Basic Safe Base
Beginner FriendlyWhat it looks like: Shelves and wood boxes all around your fire
Good Things:
- Easy to make with things you find everywhere
- You can find the stuff you need easily
- Fast to build on Day 1
- Good way to learn how to make bases
Problems:
- Not much room to make it bigger later
- Strong bad guys can break in
- Doesn't work well after Night 50
2. Trapped Entrance Base
IntermediateWhat it looks like: Wood walls around your fire with a small tunnel to get in, full of traps
Good Things:
- Really good at keeping bad guys out
- Traps hurt the enemies for you
- Works great for Nights 1-50
- Smart way to use traps - you don't need many
Problems:
- Might be hard to protect after Night 50
- You need to fix your traps a lot
- Be careful! You can get stuck in your own traps
3. Heavily Walled Base
AdvancedWhat it looks like: Many layers of trees, wood walls, and boxes with a big room inside
Good Things:
- The safest base! Keeps you protected from everything
- Has everything you need inside
- Strong enough for Night 70 and later
- Lots of walls to keep bad guys out
- Big enough for your whole team to play together
Problems:
- Takes a really long time to build
- Needs lots and lots of materials
- Might not finish building before big enemies attack
Defense Strategies
- Put your shelves in smart spots to stop enemies from getting in
- Use wood boxes as extra walls to help protect you
- Make more than one way to run away if bad guys break in
- Keep making your campfire bigger so you can see better at night
- Hide extra weapons and stuff in secret places
🔥 Advanced Tips & Tricks
Campfire Upgrading
Your campfire is the most important thing to keep you alive! Making it bigger helps you cook better, stay warm, and see more around you.
- Use your axe to chop trees faster and get lots of wood
- Bigger fires need more wood to keep burning
- Pick Lumberjack and you'll get more wood when you chop trees
- Always save extra wood for when you really need it
- Make your fire level 3-4 on Day 1, then level 6 or more by Night 10
Rescuing Missing Children
When you save lost kids, you get special rewards and prizes! Each kid needs to be saved in a different way.
🦖 Dino Kid
Campfire Level 3 • EasiestKey Required: Red Key (from wolves with red collars)
Rescue Steps:
- Find a tall hill with a metal gate after reaching Campfire Level 3
- Fight and beat the wolves wearing red collars to get the Red Key
- Put the Red Key next to the red lock on the cage to open it
- Go down the stairs to the secret room inside
- Pick up Dino Kid and the treasure chest, return to camp and release them for a special bonus!
🐙 Kraken Kid
Campfire Level 4 • MediumKey Required: Blue Key (from Alpha Wolves with blue collars)
Rescue Steps:
- Reach Campfire Level 4, then follow the arrow/compass to a new location
- Beat the big Alpha Wolves with blue collars to get the Blue Key
- Use the Blue Key on the blue lock to free Kraken Kid
- Recommended: Use ranged weapons (spear/bow/gun) for safer combat
- Bring bandages and food for healing during the fight
🦑 Squid Kid
Campfire Level 5 • HardKey Required: Yellow Key (from powerful bears)
Rescue Steps:
- Unlock the full map and reach Campfire Level 5
- Follow the tracking arrow/compass to the marked location
- Defeat the powerful bear guards to obtain the Yellow Key
- Best weapons: Morning Star or Tactical Shotgun
- Team up with 1-2 friends for better chances of success
🐨 Koala Kid
Campfire Level 5 • ExtremeKey Required: Black Key (from guard bears)
Rescue Steps:
- After Campfire Level 5 and full map unlock, locate using arrow/compass
- Watch out for patrolling bears and guard bears - very dangerous!
- Defeat them carefully to obtain the Black Key
- Use the Black Key to open the cage and rescue Koala Kid
- Strongly recommended: High-tier weapons + coordinated team of 2-3 players

Combat Techniques
🎯 Jump On Top Trick
Jump on top of the bad guys to beat them easier! When you're on their back, they can't hit you and you can hit them.
- Works really well on big enemies (like the Deer and Ram)
- You need to jump at the right time and in the right spot
- Saves your weapons from breaking fast
- Be careful: you might fall off while fighting!
🔫 Fast Reload Trick
How to reload your gun super fast during big fights so you can keep shooting!
- Reload while running away to a safe spot
- Use your sword or close weapon while reloading if bad guys get close
- Always have a second weapon ready to use
- Practice this in safe places first before trying in real fights
🔱 Spear Poke and Run
Use your long spear to hit wolves and fast enemies while staying far away from them.
- Stay far away while you poke them with your spear
- Run in circles around the bad guys
- Hide behind rocks and trees to stay safe
- Works great when playing with friends!
Entity Countering Strategies
🦌 The Deer
Low Threat (Night 1)Behavior: Passive on Night 1, becomes aggressive later
Strategy:
- Hunt animals on Night 1 to get their fur - it's safe then!
- Use a spear or bow to hit them from far away
- Don't get too close when they're angry and trying to hurt you
- When they die, you get good leather and meat
🦉 The Owl
Medium ThreatBehavior: Flying enemy, attacks from above
Strategy:
- Use weapons that shoot far away (bow or gun)
- Hide under trees or behind buildings to stay safe
- Listen for the sound of wings flapping - that means it's coming!
- It attacks very fast - keep moving and jumping away!
🐏 The Ram
High ThreatBehavior: Charges at players, high damage
Strategy:
- When it runs at you, jump to the side to get out of the way
- Hit it right after it runs past you - that's when it's tired!
- Stand behind big rocks or trees so it crashes into them instead of you
- It has lots of health - take your time and keep hitting it!
🐺 Wolves
High Threat (Packs)Behavior: Hunt in packs, fast and aggressive
Strategy:
- Use your long spear to poke them, then run away and poke again
- Fight one wolf at a time - don't try to fight them all at once
- If there are too many wolves, climb up on rocks or buildings to be safe
- When there's a big group of wolves, you need friends to help you!
🐻 Bears
Extreme ThreatBehavior: Massive damage, high health, territorial
Strategy:
- Try to stay away from this enemy if you can, especially when you just start playing
- Only use your strongest and best weapons
- Bring lots of bandages, food, and medicine to heal yourself
- You really need 3 or more friends to help you fight this!
- Hit it, then run away fast. Come back and hit it again. Keep doing this!
🌙 Night Survival Tips
Food & Water Management
🍖 Food Sources
- Hunt Animals: Catch animals to get meat, then cook the meat on your campfire
- Pick Food: Find and pick carrots, berries, and peppers growing outside
- Grow Food: Plant your own food in gardens so you always have some
- Make Stew: Use a big pot to make yummy stew - it fills you up the most!
- Keep Extra Food: Always carry at least 1 stew and 3 cooked meats with you, just in case!
💧 Water Management
- Find where the water is as soon as you start playing
- Make water bottles so you can carry water with you
- Your wood rain boxes catch rainwater too!
- Clean the water before you drink it or you'll get sick
- Keep extra water saved at your camp
🔥 Warmth & Shelter
- Stay close to your campfire when it's cold at night
- Build a house with walls and a roof to stay warmer
- Make warm coats and clothes from animal fur
- Carry torches to stay warm when walking around at night
- Watch the temperature meter - don't let yourself get too cold!

- Put traps in smart spots to catch bad guys
- Make your base the best shape and size
🎯 Fighter and Hunter
Your job is to fight bad guys and hunt animals for food
- Pick Ranger - it's best for fighting and hunting!
- Always make your weapons stronger and better
- Look around to find where the enemies are hiding
💊 Doctor and Helper
Your job is to heal your friends and help the team
- Pick Medic - this job is super important for the team!
- Save up lots of bandages, medicine, and healing stuff
- Make sure everyone has enough food to eat
Talking and Working Together
- Talk to your friends using microphones so everyone knows what to do
- Before each day and night starts, tell everyone what job they need to do
- Share your stuff with friends - give them what they need for their job
- Pick a safe meeting spot where everyone can run to if there's trouble
- If you see bad guys or danger, tell your friends right away!
- Plan trips and rescue missions with your whole team
